Local brokers ware not always recognised in the same way that international ones because they were often work with shipowning or agency businesses.
The association was established to aim to improve standards and offer training courses in all aspects of broking.
Fews months since it was established the association signed agreement with Bimco the world’s largest and most diverse private shipping organisation, to act as Bimco’s co-organisers since 2002 for Bimco Courses in Indonesia. The association had also conducted Tanker Chartering Course with International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) is the association of the owner of the independent tankers in the world.
The association together with other associations and Ministry of Transport was actively involved in drawing and finalising the shipping related regulations such as Inpres 05/2005 and Shipping Bill 17/2008.
After more than 17 years, the association is still maintaining the efforts to improve the skills and competencies of brokers especially new comer. The same hopes are given to the newly appointed chairman Deavy Aron Sinambela during recent general assembly meeting in Jakarta.
