The Indonesian Shipbrokers’ Association (ISBA) was established 30th July
2001 by representative of brokers domiciled in Jakarta to bring brokers
standards in line with international practice.
Rheinhard Tobing, who head Indonesian Shipbroking
company PT Puradika Transnusa Utama had been appointed as Chairman of the
association by 24 representatives from some 17 companies that offer broking
services on 30th July 2001. Mr. Asa Samuel who was Senior Broker of Fearnleys
Indonesi a taking on the position as vice chairman, while Mr. Henky Runtunuwu as
Secretary General, Mrs. Retno Wattimena as Legal Advisor and Mr. Iswan Priady as
Treasurer. Shipbroking has been practiced in Indonesia for more 30 years, since
Johs Larsen, first set up a company in Jakarta in the 1970s both in chartering
and sale & purchase.
